The Pressures of Leadership

Being a leader is one of the hardest things to do.

It sounds great in principal, doesn’t it? You have worked hard, exceeded targets and demonstrated your ability to senior management - so it logically leads to being promoted to Team Leader.

You may not have realised it at first, but becoming a Team Leader isn’t just a change in responsibilities. It is a change in STATUS. How you are perceived by others, and how YOU perceive yourself.

I am working with a number of leaders, some who have been promoted recently and others who have been in leadership roles for many years. There are so many management courses out there, but what none of them seem to address is the impact that being a leader can have on YOU as a person. This is what no-one really talks about, because it is unique to you; and because talking about it can bring up some private things that most people are uncomfortable discussing in groups.

If you are a leader who is struggling to cope with the responsibility of overseeing other people and their work, while maintaining your persona and managing everything going on for you OUTSIDE of work too, then Purpose Mentoring sessions could be ideal for you.

And if you are a business owner or HR Manager, how are your Team Leaders doing? How much are you investing in supporting their individual wellbeing and personal development - not just their ability to do the job? I provide Purpose sessions to companies as an employee benefit - let’s have a chat about how this could help you grow your business and keep hold of great people.

Purpose sessions are confidential counselling / mentoring sessions, with an experienced counsellor who has also worked for 17+ years in a pressurised recruitment environment and led a successful business.
